Garage Door Insulation Timelapse
Переглядів 41Рік тому
I installed some 1.5" thick Henry foam/reflector panels in the garage door to help repel the afternoon sun during the summer months. They were cut to a pretty tight fit so getting panels to slip in the Windsor door bays was satisfying. The panels cut out a significant amount of the heat that normally would radiate off the door in the garage.
XL600r Engine Rebuild (Slideshow)
Переглядів 412Рік тому
The XL600 was leaking a little oil from the crankcase and planned to only replace the crank case gasket. The engine had other plans. The bad: Realized I used a XR600 head gasket instead of an XL gasket on the first rebuild, XRs have a 97mm bore. Head warped .004" Bore is glazed and tapered Rings were tired and near service limit Thread insert on cylinder backed out and did not allow head to mat...

Taking the VStrom 1000 for a spin on some familiar roads to get used to the handling and ergonomics. Almost ate it a few times.
Milsap Bar Rd., XL600r
Переглядів 207Рік тому
Ventured out on Milsap Bar Rd. The area has been heavily impacted by the Bear Fire causing ground erosion and downed trees. I did not make it along nearly as far as I'd like to; I turned around near the Devil's Canyon hairpins, roughly 9.5mi in from Bald Rock Rd. I did not know at the time that this road was closed, I suppose the heavy erosion should have made that apparent: www.fs.usda.gov/Int...
High Lakes Trail to Ben Lomond Overlook, XL600r
Переглядів 1792 роки тому
A few highlights from my solo trip to the High Lakes trail out East to the Ben Lomond lookout point, about 8.4mi from the North Entrance. Super fun and quite a challenge for me, the lakes were gorgeous and cool weather was nice. I noticed the idle speed progressively got lower and lower, not sure if that's due to heat, air filter, or carburetor. I was able to just dial the adjustment up to comp...
Switchback Attack - Tobin Ridge Rd
Переглядів 1842 роки тому
Not particularly technical (though maybe for me), Tobin Ridge Rd. is home to over 60 switchbacks which ascend the rider 3,100ft in a mere 7 miles starting from Rock Creek along Hwy 70, CA. The total road length is 12 miles and is made of decomposed granite. The Rock Creek side is definitely softer than the Tobin side. I'll probably look for a phone mount to keep a closer watch on the map. *re u...

Nevermind, I found your drawings from your previously posted link. Thank You for sharing, cool beans. 😂😂😂 !!!
Aye, cheers!
Those stock magazines with the notch-catch cutouts are almost impossible to find. Is there a way to get a copy of your dimensional drawing so I can make a couple for my Savage Arms made Springfield md. 18C ?
Nice job when you get a rhythm you really crank them out
Do you remember the torque specs?
Wow! I have to say this is awesome! I know this is an old video, and I know it's a loooong shot... but I can't source an un-damaged compete magazine for this gun! I like the way it shoots but the mag seems to suck a lot, it fails to feed constantly, but works as a single shot. Is there any way I can get close ups of the geometry of the bent top of the mag? Or can you upload plans that you used somewhere? I cannot for the life of me get the metal of mine bent correctly to feed the training rounds I purchased. I don't have a good one to reference either because mine was crap since I've owned this old gun. It's been very frustrating and your video is the best resource I've come across. I'm going to take screen shots of the geometry but knowing the precise bend would be incredible if you can help me out. I also have some decent stainless sheet and am not opposed to fabricating my own but it's tough when the one I'm trying to replicate is garbage.
Hello, I've added the tab dimensions to the rear view detail. The relative feed lip tab height is ~0.207" tall before it is bent inwards. I would think generally the more bent inwards the tabs are the lower the nose of the shell entering the chamber. The other photos are three 2.5" shells in the magazine. Hopefully that helps. drive.google.com/drive/folders/1q2f9voopluVkjmEXsqvYcH2KsyQFtRsl?usp=sharing
Thanks for the plans, you're a genius. Greetings from Argentina
Can you do a follow up vid giving us more details on the measurements to do this myself. I hate getting jabbed in the ribs when my rifle is slung on my back.
Yeah this video is trash, I'll get some more info on it.
@@Peanutdinos3000 thanks. I look forward to making these
Where do I get these? I really want a flush magazine.
This is the type of Guy gets a job offer from Arms manufacturer to make 150 k a year he’s like no I JUST DO THIS AS A HOBBY LOL😅
Punching lights all the way and really moving
I just made that same trip and was equally happy to see that "Four Mile Ridge Road." Just south of Palmetto & Frog Rock, there is a good road too. There's snowmobile staging structure there on the corner.
So... There's no locking lugs? Basically the bolt locked by the handle?
What did you make your nose skid out of?
Part of a 1gal plastic milk jug.
If you want a little more Challenge take up to the High Lakes then back down through Inskip and Stirling City or cut over to Butte Meadows
Excellent design and video I too am starting to reload my own 410 shells, fortunately in my little home Workshop I have a nice little lathe and milling machine which is going to allow me to really dial in my reloader either making it totally separate or making an addition to my Lee reloader that I use for reloading my brass. I'm sure you also would benefit if you found yourself a nice little lathe and mill at the right price for all your projects. Thanks for taking the time to show your reloader and process. I see you can reload comfortably the 410 in approximately 45 seconds each, what a money saver!!!
Im makeing a 10 round for my 195K-A mossberg bolt action from a steel Saiga 12 gauge mag. Had to order a 3rd, 2 round mag, cut and weld it to the top or the 10 round same follower fot the 2 spring from the ten, ill show it on my cannel after i finish it!
would you consider making and selling one of these mags?
How hard would it be to make one for a 12 gauge
4:30 right there we recovered a truck that rolled off
It's a pretty nasty washout there, I'm not surprised someone augered into it.
3:38 that bush beside you, I wrecked into
Millsaps just a couple miles away from me and I ride there every year and I can say it’s one crazy rude
Hey would you make another and sell it?
Cool Press. I’m looking to begin reloading 410 due to no ammo available. How many times can you reload those hulls?
Quite a few times, you'll gain a sense when they're ready for the bin.
Why do a video if you don't explain what you are doing. Happy Thanksgiving
I got an 84 recently and she kinda idles choppy. Is it most likely I just need to clean the carb? And maybe that idle screw is off? I read something about the floats too she’s kind of a bitch to start sometimes.
Couldn't hurt to clean the carbs, you can take the bowls and jets out with the carbs still installed, may have to peel off the emissions stuff if your's is equipped. If carb looks spotless check the other usual suspects: air leaks around boots, missing mixture screw oring, float height, second slide is open at idle, clogged air filter. I'd check the mechanical stuff before the electrical. Also check out Thumper Talk, lots of good info there.
Suggestions for a carb swap ? I have an 83 xl600r and want modern carbs
You would need to swap to a xr650l top end (to use the single carb head) and then route the airbox around the rear shock somehow. Stick with the 83 carb, it's flows way better than the newer xrs.
Thank you for making this video. I have been working on a 283TB, basically the same model shotgun with a few differences, for a while trying to figure out why it wouldn't move. It turned out that it was seized up, but your video really helped. I know it was made 5 years ago, but it still was a great help!
Glad it helped you! It's my contribution to the UA-cam University. ;D
The minimap is sick, I'd love to do this sometime when I'm visiting
ah habibi
Turns out to have been both float heights, they were set well beyond the factory spec.
10 bucks for a pack of cartridges thats like 8 quid. thats cheap as chips
and that was five years ago!
$17 to $20 plus tax now and that's just decent clay, trap and bird shot 2 1/2" 410 ammo. Some TSS as high as $ 40 for box of 5. Reloading. 410 is a fantastic savings!
Anyone still watching this in 2023?!?!?
Your mother Junior. ha ha ha hah
Nice video and nice to see that Mosin-Nagant tool is useful in so many applications.
Where did you source your parts?
Combination of Partzilla and eBay for NOS/slightly used parts. The valve train didn't need much, thankfully.
Would love another video for more details about the press
Persistence pays off in the long run. Great job fixing your bike! Just think how much you have learned along the way.👍🙂
You want to make a few for a 12ga?
That is great
Great video. Been eyeing a 58a. Looks just a smaller version of my Geha with a magazine.
You sir, won the survivalist award
Would you mind giving out some dimensions for the press?
In the description.
Man has the world's supply of .410 shells
You should roll crimp the ends and use a paper cardboard cover disk then roll crimp with a drill or drill press is best and faster.
Bonjour Vous pouvez nous donner les dimensions de la presse svp
Did you base this reloader on a lee load all ll ? Just so I have a idea on scale because I want to build one if you can shoot me the dementions and detailed parts list so I can see what I have already and what parts I need to get thanks
It does borrow its design from the Lee Loader. There are some drawings in the description.
Thank you for such a cool, instructional video--without all the blammering. Well done.
How many rounds? Yes!
Do mine mext
Nice mag, but it looks just to long....I would do two of each at 6 rds more comfortable to walk around👍
Looking good!
video how to make?
